CJ May Commits to Louisville Over Syracuse: A Closer Look at his Decision and Recruitment Journey
Highland Home High School standout CJ May from Alabama made waves in the college football recruiting world on Saturday afternoon when he verbally committed to Louisville, choosing the Atlantic Coast Conference school over other top contenders like Syracuse.
May, a 2025 four-star edge and a top-150 national prospect in his class, announced his decision on the 247Sports YouTube channel, revealing that Louisville had won out over Washington, Auburn, and Syracuse. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound athlete had received over 20 offers in total before ultimately deciding on the Cardinals.
Leading up to his commitment, analysts had been predicting Louisville as the likely destination for May, with multiple sources pointing in that direction on various recruiting websites. Despite taking official visits to all four of his finalists, May ultimately felt that Louisville was the best fit for his future.
This decision marks a new chapter for May, who had previously been verbally committed to Notre Dame before reopening his recruitment in early 2024. While it may have been a tough choice to make, May is looking forward to joining the Cardinals and making an impact in the ACC.
As May prepares for the next phase of his football career, Syracuse fans may still hold out hope for his recruitment, as the early signing period for 2025 prospects doesn’t begin until December of this year. Regardless, May’s commitment to Louisville solidifies his place as a top prospect in the 2025 class.
In the meantime, Syracuse has been bolstering its 2025 recruiting class with other talented players like three-star offensive lineman Jayden Mann, who recently committed to the Orange. With a strong group of recruits on board, Syracuse football is looking ahead to a bright future on the gridiron.
