Louisville man caught months after escaping during jury deliberations in attempted murder trial
Louisville man, Vernon Jackson, made headlines after escaping during court proceedings in an attempted murder trial, only to be caught months later. Jackson, who was on home incarceration at the time, cut off his ankle monitor while the jury was deliberating his trial in March. The judge declared a mistrial as the jury could not reach a unanimous decision.
Jackson was arrested last Thursday after a short pursuit and now faces additional charges including excessive windshield tint, possession of marijuana, and fleeing or evading police. He is also charged with escape, tampering with a prisoner monitoring device, and theft. Jackson’s bond is set at $10,000 cash, and he has a pretrial hearing scheduled for July 1st at 9 a.m.
The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney mentioned that if Jackson had waited, he may have walked free back in March. This unexpected turn of events has left many shocked and curious about the outcome of Jackson’s case. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
