ZaKiyah Johnson Announces Final Six Teams in Recruitment
ZaKiyah Johnson, one of the top five-star prospects in women’s basketball recruiting, has revealed the final six teams in her recruitment process. The list includes powerhouse programs such as South Carolina, LSU, Louisville, Kentucky, Notre Dame, and USC.
Standing at 6 feet tall, Johnson is a dynamic guard who has impressed with her scoring ability, averaging 22.5 points and 8 rebounds per game. She capped off her impressive season with a 36-3 record and was honored as the Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year.
LSU has been a frontrunner in recruiting Johnson for years, and the feeling is mutual. Johnson spoke highly of the LSU staff, praising their energy and the strong connection she feels with them.
“I’m definitely really close with all the staff there. They’re really energetic and I like that. I’m an energetic person too – I’m very social – so I think we click there. The fact that we can have long conversations is good for me,” Johnson shared with On3’s Talia Goodman.
Hailing from Shelbyville, Kentucky, Johnson is a versatile player who prides herself on her leadership skills both on and off the court. She has already made unofficial visits to Louisville and Kentucky and plans on scheduling official visits to the remaining four schools on her list this fall.
“I’m looking for diversity on a campus, just so I can branch out and meet new people. I also really pay attention to dorms and dorm living. Then it’s just looking at the team, kind of reading them and seeing how their relationships are,” Johnson explained.
With visits to LSU and Kentucky already on the horizon, Johnson is focused on finding the perfect fit for her both academically and athletically.
