Former Louisville cornerback Marcus Washington chooses Syracuse as his new college destination

Former Louisville Cardinals cornerback Marcus Washington announced that he will be joining the Syracuse Orange for the 2024 season, as revealed on social media. This decision marks Washington’s second stint in the transfer portal, after starting his career at Georgia and then transferring to Louisville.

During his time at Louisville, Washington played in all 14 games but was primarily utilized on special teams, logging 132 special team snaps. Prior to his college career, Washington played high school football at Grovetown High School in Georgia, where he was a standout four-star prospect with a 94.1 rating and ranked nationally at No. 110.

In high school, Washington reclassified to play in the 2022 prep season and showcased his athleticism by recording 48 tackles, one sack, and two fumble recoveries. He also excelled in track and field, consistently turning in sub-11.0 second 100-meter times.

“On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power described Washington as one of the more athletic top cornerbacks in the 2023 cycle, praising his size, athleticism, and physicality as a run defender,” the report states.

For the latest updates on player movements, fans can follow On3’s Transfer Portal wire and social media accounts. Kaiden Smith from On3 contributed to this report, highlighting Washington’s journey from high school to college football.
