Devin Carter: Sacramento Kings Rookie Undergoes Shoulder Surgery, Expected to Miss First Half of Season
NBA Rookie Devin Carter Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery, Set to Miss Half of Rookie Season
Sacramento Kings’ newest lottery pick, Devin Carter, has undergone successful shoulder surgery, leaving him sidelined for the first half of his rookie campaign. Despite the setback, Carter remains in high spirits and has already become a fan favorite with his motivational posts on social media.
The 22-year-old two-way combo guard impressed many teams leading up to the draft, even with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. His standout performance at Providence, where he averaged 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, caught the attention of NBA scouts and personnel.
Carter’s surgery comes at a crucial time for the Kings, who have been making significant offseason changes. They recently traded Davion Mitchell to the Toronto Raptors and acquired All-Star wing DeMar DeRozan from the Chicago Bulls in a sign-and-trade. DeRozan, known for his clutch-time scoring, will join forces with De’Aaron Fox to lead the Kings towards a successful season.
When Carter eventually returns to the court in 2025, he is expected to provide stability, scoring, and defensive prowess to the Kings’ backcourt. With a lack of defensive strength and bench production last season, Carter’s presence is much needed to elevate the team’s performance.
Stay tuned for further updates on Devin Carter’s recovery and return to basketball activities as the Kings look to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.
