Thieves Steal Art from Mellwood Art Center Just Days Before Artist’s Gallery Opening

Thieves stole artwork from the Mellwood Art Center in Louisville, Ky., just days before a popular artist’s gallery was set to open. The artist, Jason Lois, described his art as a “motive” and was devastated by the theft. Surveillance video captured four individuals taking two of Lois’ paintings from the art center. Despite the loss, Lois remained positive and hoped that the thieves would appreciate his work. The stolen paintings, valued at $6,000, are crucial to Lois’ livelihood. Louisville Metro Police are investigating the case, and Lois is preparing for upcoming shows in both Louisville and Los Angeles. Despite the setback, Lois remains optimistic and wishes the thieves well.
