Damion Lee, Former UofL Star, Comes Back to Louisville for Charity Golf Event

NBA Champion Damian Lee Hosts Charity Golf Event in Louisville

Damion Lee, the NBA champion and former Cardinal, is back in Louisville this week to host two charity events through The Damion Lee Family Foundation. Despite only spending one year of his college basketball career in a Louisville uniform, Lee’s impact on the community continues to resonate.

Lee spoke about his connection to Louisville, saying, “I still feel like I’m that Cardinal that came here in 2015. This place is pivotal for me and my growth, becoming a man, learning how to adapt to changes, and just knowing that life isn’t going to be perfect.”

One of the events Lee hosted was his third annual golf scramble, aimed at benefiting youth in the city by providing financial resources for scholarships, youth clinics/camps, and local youth programs. During his playing days, Lee started a chant: “Who got your back? I’ve got your back,” which still reflects his work through his foundation and the community.

Despite suffering a series of injuries, including foot surgery in August 2023, Lee found support and strength in the Louisville community during his rehab. Now, he continues to give back through his foundation, expressing his gratitude by saying, “This place is so special to me and my mom. As much as we can do, we’re going to continue doing.”
