University of Louisville Athlete to Represent USA at 2024 Paris Olympics

In an historic achievement, Jayden Ulrich, a student-athlete at the University of Louisville, has been selected to represent USA Track and Field at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ulrich will be competing in the women’s discus throw, becoming the first track and field athlete in school history to represent the United States at the Olympics.

Expressing her excitement, Ulrich stated, “I couldn’t be more excited to represent Team USA at the upcoming Olympic Games. It means so much that all the work I’ve put in is finally paying off.” Ulrich’s journey to the Olympics saw her posting an impressive mark of 63.61 meters in the preliminaries and securing her spot on Team USA with a toss of 62.63 meters in the finals.

Joe Franklin, the director of track and field and cross country at UofL, praised Ulrich’s dedication and ability, stating, “Being selected to the U.S. Olympic team is indicative of Jayden’s ability and dedication that has allowed her to reach the pinnacle of our sport.” Ulrich’s selection as the first U.S. Olympian from the university’s track and field program is a significant milestone for both her and the entire University of Louisville community.

Ulrich’s accomplishments include being the 2024 NCAA runner-up in the women’s discus throw, as well as being recognized as the USTFCCCA Southeast Regional Women’s Field Athlete of the Year and ACC Women’s Field Athlete of the Year. The women’s discus throw competition at the Paris Olympics is set to open on Aug. 2, where Ulrich will have the opportunity to showcase her talent on the global stage.

This achievement is a testament to Ulrich’s hard work and dedication, and it marks a proud moment for the University of Louisville as they see one of their own represent the United States at the prestigious Olympic Games.
