Louisville Women’s Basketball Program Closer to Landing Top High School Prospect
Louisville women’s basketball program on the verge of landing top high school prospect ZaKiyah Johnson
The Louisville women’s basketball program is buzzing with excitement as ZaKiyah Johnson, a five-star recruit and one of the top prospects in the Class of 2025, has narrowed down her list of top schools to six. Among them, the hometown Cardinals have made the cut, alongside Kentucky, LSU, Notre Dame, South Carolina, and USC.
Standing at 6-foot-0, Johnson is a versatile guard/wing who has been turning heads with her impressive skills on the court. She is ranked as the No. 4 recruit in the nation by On3 and the No. 7 prospect by ESPN’s HoopGurlz. Additionally, she holds the title of the top player in the state of Kentucky.
Johnson’s stellar performance on the court is evident in her stats, as she averaged 18.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game this past season. Her contributions were a key factor in guiding Sacred Heart to a 31-7 overall record and their fourth consecutive state championship.
Having already earned numerous accolades, including three-time Gatorade Kentucky Girls Basketball Player of the Year and three-time Sweet 16 MVP, Johnson is undoubtedly a standout player in the high school basketball scene. With an impressive track record of 2,208 points, 871 rebounds, 411 assists, 223 steals, and 109 blocks, she is a force to be reckoned with on the court.
While Louisville has yet to secure a commitment from a 2025 prospect, their recent success in recruiting top talent, such as the elite 2024 class featuring five-stars Imari Berry, Mackenly Randolph, and Tajianna Roberts, showcases their ability to attract top-tier players. Head coach Jeff Walz and the Cardinals are hopeful that Johnson will choose to continue her basketball career with the Cardinals and contribute to their ongoing success on the court.
