Woman Dies After Being Struck by Train in Clifton Neighborhood, Louisville
A tragic incident occurred in the Clifton neighborhood on Tuesday morning as a woman lost her life after being struck by a train, as reported by Louisville Metro police. The incident took place around 8:30 a.m. when LMPD Fifth Division officers received a call about a pedestrian down near the train tracks close to Stoll Avenue and Arlington Avenue.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the woman lying on the CSX tracks. Emergency medical services were called, but unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead. According to police, the train conductor informed them that the woman was walking on the tracks and did not move out of the way despite the train sounding its horn to alert her. The conductor also mentioned that the train attempted to stop before hitting her.
The train’s engine was halted on the tracks as crews worked to investigate the scene, with LMPD Homicide leading the investigation into the incident. The identity and age of the woman have not been disclosed at this time, leaving the community saddened by the tragic loss.
