July 4th Weather Update: Louisville Area Braces for Possible Rain and Storms

Stay Weather Aware this Independence Day: Showers and Storms Expected

As Americans gear up to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks and barbecues, Mother Nature has some plans of her own. The heat, humidity, and an advancing cold front are set to create the perfect conditions for some booming thunderstorms on the 4th of July in Louisville, Kentucky.

While the rain is not expected to be an all-day event, the highest chances for showers and storms are predicted for the first half of the day. In fact, a tornado warning was even issued for Harrison and Floyd counties, although it quickly expired. The weather is expected to dry up in the afternoon and early evening, just in time for the fireworks display.

Temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s, but with the humidity factored in, it will feel closer to 100 degrees. If you find yourself outdoors and hear thunder, it’s important to seek shelter until the storms pass. Safety should always come first when it comes to unpredictable weather on Independence Day.

So, as you celebrate America’s birthday, keep an eye on the sky and make sure to stay safe in case of inclement weather. Happy 4th of July!
