Lawsuits Filed Against Richardson Properties for Multiple Attacks at River Breeze Apartments
The River Breeze Apartments in Louisville, KY, are at the center of a second lawsuit filed against Richardson Properties, the property management group responsible for the complex. This comes after a series of attacks that occurred during the summer of 2023, where multiple women were assaulted and robbed at gunpoint.
Louisville Metro Police alerted the public last year about six assaults, with the suspect specifically targeting women in and around apartment complexes. The attacks occurred at various locations, including River Breeze Apartments, Moss Creek Apartments, and Finish Line Apartments. The victims suffered physical injuries and robbery, with one victim also being sexually assaulted.
The latest lawsuit, filed by attorney David Barber, focuses on the victim who was sexually assaulted. Both lawsuits claim that Richardson Properties failed to adequately notify and protect its tenants from the attacks, alleging negligence on the part of the property management group.
Despite the attacks occurring a year ago, the perpetrator has not been apprehended, leaving residents understandably shaken. One resident expressed concern for their neighbors and urged authorities to capture the assailant.
The ongoing legal battle highlights the importance of providing a safe living environment for tenants. Richardson Properties has yet to respond to requests for comment on the matter.
In related news, a separate lawsuit filed by Barber on behalf of Hannah Harshfield, who was severely beaten outside her apartment, underscores the need for increased security measures in the area. The suspect description and use of a handgun in each case are similar, indicating a potential connection between the assaults.
Christopher Thompson, 22, was arrested in January in connection with a separate assault, but police have not linked him to the attacks at River Breeze Apartments. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
The community remains on edge as they await justice for the victims and increased safety measures to prevent future incidents.
