The NCAA volleyball season is set to kick off with a bang in Louisville, as the city will host two major events that will showcase some of the best volleyball programs in the country. The action will begin with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First Serve Showcase on Aug. 27 at the KFC Yum! Center, featuring powerhouse teams like Kentucky, Nebraska, Louisville, and Wisconsin.

Coaches Dani Busboom Kelly of Louisville and Craig Skinner of Kentucky met at a press conference to promote the event, which will be televised on ESPN2. Both coaches expressed excitement for the opportunity to compete against top-tier teams right from the start of the season.

Kentucky, coming off a successful season with a seventh straight SEC championship, will face off against Nebraska in the opening match. Louisville, a Sweet Sixteen contender with a strong returning lineup, will take on Wisconsin in the second matchup of the doubleheader.

The showcase will not only set the stage for an exciting season but also provide a platform for players to showcase their skills on a national level. With star players like Emma Grome of Kentucky and Anna DeBeer of Louisville leading their respective teams, fans can expect high-level competition and thrilling matchups.

After the showcase, both teams will continue their season with a series of games, building momentum as they aim for success in the NCAA tournament. With experienced coaches like Skinner and Kelly at the helm, the future looks bright for both programs as they embark on another exciting season of collegiate volleyball.
