Louisville Metro Police Department Hit with Sexual Harassment Complaints: Nude Selfies, Pool Parties, and Resignations
The Louisville Metro Police Department has been embroiled in scandal once again, as two female officers have come forward with sexual harassment complaints in the past month. The allegations include nude selfies, swinging officers, and wild pool parties within the agency.
Sgt. Lauren Carby filed a lawsuit claiming that her male superior attempted to kiss her at a pool party and propositioned her for sex, with his wife encouraging the behavior. Another officer, Christine Silk, also filed a suit accusing male colleagues of repeatedly harassing her, including sending explicit photos and forcing her to read sexual fantasies.
These disturbing allegations have led to the resignation of police chief Jackie Gwinn-Villaroel, making her the third full-time Louisville top cop to resign or be terminated since the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor in 2020.
Mayor Craig Greenberg suspended Gwinn-Villaroel for mishandling a sexual harassment complaint, calling the allegations “unacceptable and inexcusable.” The department stated that they take every allegation seriously and have launched internal investigations into the matter.
The Louisville Metro Police Department is under intense scrutiny, with one officer reassigned and another placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The recent turmoil within the agency has been further exacerbated by the controversial arrest of golf star Scottie Scheffler, whose charges were dropped after prosecutors deemed it a “big misunderstanding.”
